Ok guys, as a dick grayson fan I feel the need to step in. First of all the reason robin shouldn't be in the film is because nolan batman is still in the first couple years of his career. The timeline doesn't make sense for him to have a ward. As for Robin needing a darker origin; his parent were murdered in front of him while being watched by an entire audience. Robin isn't a bad character its just too soon for Batman to have any sidekick in this franchise.

Okay ultimately no matter how much Robin makes sense in comics and finds his place in the story the bottom line is FUCK ROBIN. Batman's character is ten times cooler when he is all alone in his effort to fight crime. Makes shit seem hopeless, dark, and neverending which drives the story to a much more interesting place than him with a "partner that's THERE for him " or "a pupil who has alot to learn" or whatever other gay lessons it tries to portray. I don't wanna see robin because one of the greatest things about the bat that makes him the greatest superhero is he doesn't have no gay "powers" or "superteam" to help him stem the tide of all these badass villians. He's just a really awesome well trained muthafucker. And with almost every appearance of robin portraying him as the "chipper" sidekick with such a sad life story who comes off a little too gay and uncomfortable, maybe his proper place should just remain animated. Fuck robin. Ya want interaction between characters Catwoman's relationship with the dark Knight brings a huge level of depth to the story. Not to mention any of the number of badass villains and other characters in Batman's universe. So fuck Robin. Bottom line.

the reason why robin was created in the first place was to give batman a shred of humanity and if robin was to be in a new film of course it wouldnt be that thin little kid it should be a more modern version the reason why batman "adopts" robin is that he has sufered the same loss as him and the struggles with the same issues, Robin might not be as dark as batman but he also has less control over him self, come on u dont put on a suit and mask with ot having some personality issues, batman isnt batman without robin it would be like cutting alfred out of the script, and actors shouldnt dictate what should be in the film or not the director and DCcomics should

If a Bruce were to take in a disciple I think the best would be four Batman to be implicated in the death of the boys parents some how. Then Wayne could train him and teach him to deal with his anger not as Batman but as Bruce. This expands Bruce's human side and when the boy finds out at the end of the movie he decides to leave Wayne Manor not out of hatred but because he just can't live with Bruce. This opens up the possibility of a Nightwing movie and will leave Bruce sad and alone again even more focused on his Batman alter ego.

I think it would be cool having Nightwing. He doesn't have to be batman's sidekick - like he comes out of no where to save him for help him fight. I think it would be cool to have Nightwing.

I think they should have him in one of the movies for a short period of time then let him be killed. Later on in the series he could become Nightwing. Nightwing has always been very dark and has always had the same kind of look that this batman has.
you could also make robins story tragic by saying he was at one time an orfan

I think everyone needs to step back and take a read through Dark Victory and/or Dark Knight Returns to see that it is possible for Robin to be portrayed as a worthwhile character that has more reason for existence than to be comedic foil. Dark Victory in particular deals with Robin very well.

I believe that they could do Robin if they tried, but to the extent that he has a really dark vengeance in his heart. Maybe if they twisted the story to where he helps him on the side instead of concrete sidekick. Only thing is that he cant be too young maybe in his early 20's.

If Robin is in a Batman: I think that the movie should start with Tony Zucco (as a massive serial killer) trying to kill everyone in the circus that the Graysons are performing at after finding out about the Grayson. And when Bruce hears about this he (reluctantly) takes in Dick Grayson. Dick sneaks out often to try to find Zucco. Eventually Batman finds out about this, and Dick forces Batman to let him help with whatever case he is on. After this Robin should never be seen again with Batman. I'm thinking this would be a good way to make a gateway for say a Nightwing movie or a Titans movie.

Honestly, I don't think Robin would be so bad... I mean if they made a movie revolving on how Dick Grayson's parents die in the freak carnival accident and how robin wants his revenge on Tony Zucco. And later Robin leaves batman to become Nightwig.

Robin could work, but only if "Robin" doesn't make an actual appearance. Batman could save Dick Grayson after his parents are killed. Batman, who has gone into a much darker place after the events of TDK, could, through caring for the young boy, be brought back from total nihilism and begin to believe he can save himself if he can save this boy from the life he had. Perhaps, at the very end of the third film, we could see Bruce start to train Dick and that would be it -- no costume, no dynamic duo, nothing like that.

I agree with you obi rofo I'm a Robin fan and I say they should put him in make him a little darker and focus more on his character behind his mask and his life I think Nolan should put him in that would really work I think.

I dont think robin being int he second sequel would be such a bad idea.. All Nolan has to do is darken him up a little , and not make him such a prominant character.... What would work even better is if an independent Robin movie where to be made... absent of the Batman. For this robin movie, they should use the same fomula used in Batman begines.. you know, focus more on the character behind the mask!!!! Just an idea though. What do you guys think????

Never thought Equilibrium was any good, took itself too seriously to the point it was laughable.
The acting was robotic, if that's any hope for T4 ???
