    I don't understand it... but it's awesome.

wow, i love that famous directors and actors still take on little spots like this, makes me appreciate them so much more. Brad pitt doesn't need this money but its a cool idea and he went for it. epic.

Note: I've deleted the whole conversation that previously took place underneath this comment as it took the discussion entirely off topic and became a flame war.

    What was it about?

What do flamers ever talk about?
I'm sure it went something like "Brad Pitt is the worst f-ing actor in the history of the world and I hope Spike Jonze's family dies in a car accident because he's a talentless homo, the music is stupid and this video makes no sense. Go Transformers!"
    You know, the usual...

This reminds me of that episode of Entourage when Vinnie Chase filmed the Japanese commercial. Oh celebrities.

When I was in Japan, every time a passed a SoftBank store, I had to remind myself that it was a Cell Phone place and not an actual bank. It was very confusing.

Kris. You are my favorite person right now.

Best four minutes of my night.

    Sad maybe.

Now go listen to the rest and enjoy the rest of your night.

Weird. Although it made about as much sense, I think I prefer the Wes Anderson/Brad Pitt Softbank ad from a few months ago.

Anyone know what the Japanese translates too at the end?
  • stephenc · 5 months ago
My Japanese is shit, but I think it says "ketai suronara karui yatsu" - it has something to do with a light mobile phone.
  • ParanoidAndroid9 · 5 months ago
'If you had to carry something (implied handheld), wouldn't you prefer it to be light'

There's my stab at it - but it may not be 100%. The ending particle yatsu has thrown me a bit.

Yeah, I love the use of Department of Eagles. 'In Ear Park' is a great song and a great album.

That was 30 seconds of Spike Jonze awesomeness. Never expected Brad Pitt to do this sort of thing, but I liked it.

shoulda had a tear fall from the sumo's face.

The sumo wrestler in the commercial is Musashimaru.
He was the top of sumo wrestlers, YOKOZUNA, and his weight was over 200 kg at his sumo career.
So, although Japanese know that the commercial is made by computer graphics, they are surprised at the fact that Brad Pitt can carry Musashimaru when they watch the film.
