Charlie Sheen for Roland Deschain just think he could be a contender, it's unexpected choice from myself but he's been around quite a while and he could pull it off i'm sure he could go into the dark places of himself and bring the DARK TOWER to us

The best thing about the Dark Tower is the fantasy Mid-world stuff although central to the plot the real world stuff is all too much to be introduced from the start of the movies, I think the Movies / TV series would benefit in following the graphic Novels and start at the beginning and live the life of Roland starting from mid world roots rather than jumping back and fourth in time... Make it linear progression through rolands life like time as we know it before introducing other aspects of time into the story.

Frank Darabont would do a great job of this and I don't know what King is going on about "you have your plate full", drop the other stuff and get him on it now because in reality, he is probably the only one who is a low risk choice of trusting to pulling this momentous task off.... Start at the begining and hope to reach the end....That's what Roland did after all

my son auditioned for the part of jake. he is 10 and is an actor in nyc. he has been compared to haley joel osment by people who have worked with him. we all want him for the part of jake. his name is jake miller- has done tv shows and a film coming out called brooklyn brothers beat the best but is basically unknown but he would be a great choice

Damn right. Ryan Reynolds would be the perfect person to play Eddie Dean. I keep thinking back to his role in Blade: Trinity where he literally oozed sarcasm, so yeah. Ryan Reynolds for the role!

The thing is, at the start of the series Roland has the appearance of a middle-aged man. Clint Eastwood is in his 80's right now, so he definitely is too old for the role.

(I say "start" and "appearance" by the way, because I've only read the first two books as I am posting this.)

As many before me said, Viggo Mortensen would be an almost perfect fit for Roland, thee way you see him in LOTR when he is serious is my imagination of Roland...

And as "Avery Danseroa" said above me here, Clint would maybe be good as Steven, when thinking about his age and his success in western movies. But he wouldn't work for Roland... Not a chance xD

I think they should leave it alone and not ruin what many consider to be the greatest story ever told. Part of the Dark Towers mystique is the fact that it never really shows you exactly how the roles look. You get glimpses of Roland, susannah, and Jake depending on which cover of the books you have and that is all for me. Id hate to see say a Hugh Jackman destroy a role like the the GUnslingers. How could one person possibly capture all that raw emotion, that yearning for the tower, and merciless determination all while trying to feel love for his comrades who may or may not trust him? and thats just one person in a book where many of the side characthers are deeper than most novels main characthers. Leave it alone and dont destroy if for us fan who've read the series faithfully while at the same time allowing idiots who'll never read the books to try and grasp what they can then act like they know the whole series.
